Newbridge School Receives Over £10,000 In Sports Facilities Funding Boost
Newbridge School has received a funding boost of over £10,000 to open its facilities for the community.
Communities in Worcester and surrounding areas will soon benefit more opportunities to be physically active when Newbridge School opens its doors outside of the normal school day for new sport and physical activities.
A share of £828,000 worth of Opening School Facilities funding from the Department for Education has been invested to support schools across Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire has been working with local stakeholders to identify communities and individuals that would most benefit from increased access to facilities and increased physical activity.
Schools play a vital role in encouraging children and young people to be more active. This funding will enable Newbridge School to expand their facilities to the wider community.
Newbridge School will use this funding to provide CrossFit equipment to deliver sessions to SEND students.
As well as supporting schools to provide more out of school opportunities for their school children and community users, priority will be given to projects encouraging women and girls to be more active, those that help disadvantaged communities and culturally diverse communities and for those supporting special educational needs, disabilities or long-term health conditions.
